Who is an ideal client for Flagship?

Flagship™ is perfect for small-to-medium sized businesses who do not have enough of a shipping volume to get the discounts direct from the couriers. By taking advantage of Flagship’s volume, our clients get rates typically only reserved for the largest volume shippers.

Why should I ship through Flagship instead of going directly to a courier?

There are three main reasons to ship through Flagship:

  1. Flagship offers 24/7 personalized customer service that is second to none in the courier industry.
  2. Based on the combined volume of all of our customers, we can offer you deep discounts typically reserved for much larger volume shippers, enabling you to receive up to a 25% savings on your shipping costs.
  3. Flagship offers a complete web-based SmartShip shipping system that allows you to compare our discounted rates on leading courier companies in Canada.

Keep in mind that you are not actually switching; the same couriers you use today will be the ones picking up and delivering your shipments tomorrow. Rather, you are now dealing through Flagship in order to benefit by our greatly discounted rates, our SmartShip™ shipping system, and our personalized customer service.

What is the SmartShip shipping system?

SmartShip is Flagship’s proprietary web-based shipping system which allows a customer to instantly compare and select discounted rates from leading couriers all in one spot, store key shipping information for future use, automatically create compliant shipping labels for each package, and track shipments in real time. There is absolutely no software to download and no fee to use it; all you need is an internet connection.
The SmartShip system shows you all the services available for your shipment and recommends the least expensive alternative using leading couriers. You choose the courier that best suits your needs, our system generates a bar-coded courier-compliant shipping label for you to print, and the shipment is picked up and delivered by the courier you chose.

Are there any fees associated with account signup?

Account signup is 100% free*! There are no signup fees, no user fees, no monthly fees, and no hidden fees. There are also no minimum obligations you have to meet in order to maintain your discounted rates. All you have to do is fill out our account opening form located here. You will then be contacted by one of our sales representatives to activate your account and get you started.

Who should I call if there is a problem with my shipment?

You are able to call the courier directly at any point, however Flagship’s 24/7 customer service offers a more in-depth personalized service than is available from any of the couriers directly. Thanks to our relationships with the couriers, our customer service representatives have access to dedicated supervisors within each courier’s internal network. As a result, we will be able to work out a problem quicker and more efficiently than you would be able to by going through the courier’s 1-800 number, all while letting you focus on the more important aspects of your day.

What type of packages can I ship with Flagship?

Flagship offers a full range of courier shipping solutions from overnight letters to multiple box shipments and distributions as well as a full range of express air to ground shipments – if the courier offers the service, Flagship will display it for you. You receive one invoice from Flagship with all your shipping details regardless of which courier you chose to deliver your packages.

How can I tell which services are available for a shipment I am preparing?

When you enter in all your shipment details, you will be brought to the rates screen where you will see all the services and rates that are available for your shipment. You are then able to choose your courier based on the delivery time you require at the price that is available to you.

Am I able to process shipments leaving from my supplier and being delivered to me?

As long as the shipment originates in Canada, you are able to process a shipment heading anywhere in the world through the SmartShip shipping system. Once you arrive at the shipping label, you are able to email it to your supplier with one click of a button.

How do I process an international shipment?

You have the choice of either using the SmartShip system to fill out your commercial invoice or proceed using your own self-generated commercial invoice. Just make sure that, whatever way you decide to proceed, you include three copies of the commercial invoice with your shipping label.

Can I insure my shipments? How do the rates compare with insuring through the couriers directly?

Flagship offers our own in-house insurance on your shipments at a greatly reduced rate compared to that of going to the couriers directly. Whereas a courier can charge you up to $1.50 per $100 of insurance purchased, we only charge $0.60 per $100. Our customer service representatives will also do whatever they can to help you file your insurance claim and follow it through right up until it has been resolved.
